There’s no doubt that Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter is a talented player when he has his head screwed on correctly. Of course, sometimes Hunter’s head gets a little loose and he can find himself in trouble with the coaching staff.

Case in point on Monday afternoon after Justin Hunter ran yet another bad/poor route, the Tennessee Titans had had enough.

Off came Justin Hunter’s jersey and he was forced to wear a ‘JAG’ jersey. No, we’re not talking about some weird form of punishment where he had to wear a Jacksonville Jaguars jersey or something, the ‘JAG’ acronym actually has a meaning to the coaching staff.

Handing it out to players who aren’t playing up to their talent or energy level, the ‘JAG’ jersey stands for ‘just another guy’ or ‘just a guy’ depending on who you ask.

Ouch.

The Tennessean explains.

"But after he failed to convert a route in Saturday’s preseason game against the Packers, Tennessee Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt called him out in a meeting. Receivers coach Shawn Jefferson then talked to equipment manager Matt Thompson about making the uniform change.“The receivers have been talking about that for a minute, since last year, just playing around,” Hunter said with a slight grin. “But then coach Whiz said something about it in a meeting … and said, ‘Justin, you can be a great player, but after that play, you look like ‘Just Another Guy.’ “"

It should be interesting to see how Hunter reacts to the ‘punishment’, which isn’t all that bad. Though it does have to ding the ego a bit.
