(21)Texas A&M at South Carolina(-10.5): MISS! I didn’t see this one coming. I wouldn’t have been all that surprised if the Cocks failed to cover, but seeing them get destroyed was one of my surprises of the weekend.

Wake Forest at Louisiana-Monroe(-1.5) MISS! Off to a great start there Mike…….

Tulane at Tulsa(-6.5): MISS! I really hate missing overtime games by those stupid halves……

Mississippi(-10.5) at Boise State: HIT! Finally! The first one can be the hardest sometimes.

Temple at Vanderbilt(-12.5): MISS! I really should have known better. Then again, I thought the younger brother of Aaron Rodgers would have at least some of his talent….

Rutgers at Washington State(-7.5): MISS! How about those power conferences getting smacked around at home??

BYU(-16.5) at Connecticut: HIT! This shouldn’t have surprised anyone. Hill may be the one man gang, but he is still a matchup nightmare.

Bowling Green(-7.5) at Western Kentucky: MISS! World, meet Brandon Doughty. Brandon Doughty, meet the world!

Colorado State vs Colorado(-3.5) at Denver: MISS! That’s what I get for picking the Ralphies…..

UTSA at Houston(-11.5): MISS! I liked UTSA some coming into the season, but after watching this game, they are even better than I thought. They will give Arizona a fight.

UNLV at Arizona(-23.5): MISS! Apparently, I am putting way too much stock into teams that improved last year.

Central Florida(-1.5) vs. Penn State at Dublin, Ireland: MISS! UCF outplayed them for most of the game, but made too many mistakes.

UCLA(-21.5) at Virginia: MISS! Virginia’s D will give some ACC teams fits. If only their offense could catch up…..

Appalachian State at Michigan(-34.5): MISS! A huge spread covered. Way to go Michigan!

Ohio State(-15.5) vs. Navy at Baltimore: MISS! Those late touchdowns killed it for me.

Western Michigan at Purdue(-10.5): HIT! I am still surprised that Purdue won.

Troy at UAB(-2.5): MISS! Okay, so, UAB is not the worst team in the Sun Belt anymore!

Georgia Southern at North Carolina State: MISS! Maybe the Eagles are better than I thought. NC State is definitely worse than I thought.

Boston College(-16.5) at Massachusetts: HIT! Want easy money? Take teams to cover UMass!

Florida Atlantic at Nebraska(-21.5): HIT! Just so you know, according to people around here, Nebraska is going to win the National Championship after this showing.

California at Northwestern(-10.5): HIT! The Wildcats are still a mess, just like late last season.

West Virginia vs. Alabama at Atlanta: HIT! I honestly didn’t think WVU would keep it this close. That is two straight subpar showings for the Tide. Are they human after all?

Rice at Notre Dame(-21.5): HIT! Golson didn’t miss a beat.

Marshall(-23.5) at Miami(OH): MISS! Well, there goes my streak….

Arkansas at Auburn(-19.5): HIT! Good thing Aubie put Marshall in at halftime……

Clemson at Georgia(-7.5): HIT! Something else we learned in week 1? Gurley is going to win the Heisman…..

Ohio at Kent State(-2.5): MISS! And I usually pick Ohio!

Louisiana Tech at Oklahoma(-37.5): HIT! 13 garbage time points saved my hide.

Idaho at Florida(-36.5): POSTPONED

Fresno State at USC(-21.5): MISS! Too much faith in Fresno…..

Southern Mississippi at Mississippi State(-30.5): HIT! The Bulldogs played like they meant it in a week when a lot of teams did not.

UTEP at New Mexico: HIT! The Carrier-less Lobos are in trouble.

North Texas at Texas(-23.5): MISS! The Longhorns win the battle, but lose the war with both Ash and Espinosa getting hurt.

Florida State(-18.5) vs. Oklahoma State at Jerry World: MISS! FSU covered every game but the title game last year. This was not a promising start for the Noles.

Wisconsin vs LSU(-4.5) at Houston: MISS! Damn halves……

Washington(-17.5) at Hawaii: HIT! The Warriors are money on the islands. Washington needs a slow moving vehicle sign for their offense….

Utah State at Tennessee(-6.5): MISS! Keaton may be able to play in the SEC, but his line sure couldn’t. Tennessee’s defensive line was dominant.

SMU at Baylor(-33.5): MISS! Well, one stadium opening in Texas went as planned.

Miami(FL) at Louisville(-3.5): MISS! I was very impressed with Louisville’s D-line.

That puts me at 14-24 for the first week. Not the way I wanted to start the season, but not an insurmountable deficit such as the national debt either. Next week will be better!
