Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson with rare fumble (Video)
By Phil Watson
Andre Johnson of the Houston Texans is one of the most-sure handed wide receivers in the NFL.
So when he puts the ball on the ground, it’s a big deal.
But that’s what Johnson did Sunday against the Buffalo Bills at NRG Stadium. He was trying to escape a tackle by Da’Norris Searcy when linebacker Brandon Spikes came up and laid a shoulder pad on him.
It was his first fumble since 2010, when he put the ball on the ground against the Tennessee Titans in a Week 15 matchup.

But he hadn’t lost a fumble since Oct. 12, 2008, against the Miami Dolphins—a span of 82 games.
Coming into today’s game, Johnson had 943 career receptions on 1,521 targets with a total of 51 drops. He’s in his 12th season, so those are indeed some good hands.
Johnson is a two-time All-Pro and has been picked for seven Pro Bowls. He’s topped the 100-reception mark five times in his career—twice leading the league, in 2006 (103 receptions) and 2008 (115).
He’s also led the NFL in receiving yards twice—with 1,575 yards in 2008 and with 1,569 yards in 2009.
Johnson came into Sunday’s game tied with Hall of Famer Art Monk for 12th place on the NFL’s all-time receptions list and trails only Reggie Wayne of the Indianapolis Colts among active players.
Johnson is 15th all-time in receiving yards with 12,852, again trailing only Wayne among active receivers.
