Jeremy Stephens vs. Charles Oliveira co-headlines TUF 20 Finale

An intriguing featherweight tilt between former lightweights Jeremy Stephens and Charles Oliveira has been announced as the co-main event of the TUF 20 Finale. The UFC confirmed the news in the UFC Minute on Tuesday.

On a card that will crown the first ever UFC strawweight title, with the TUF 20 season well underway, Jeremy Stephens will look to get back on track by taking out a tough Brazilian in Charles Oliveira. After going 3-0 since dropping down to featherweight, Stephens faced top ranked 145er Cub Swanson in San Antonio.

While Stephens was unsuccessful in the main event of the card, he showed his potential to do big things in the division, taking the #2-ranked Swanson into deep waters, arguably winning a round or two en route to a decision loss. Now looking to re-find the momentum at the beginning of his featherweight stint, ‘Lil’ Heathen’ has the opportunity to make a huge statement against Charles Oliveira.

‘Do Bronx’ was scheduled to fight Nik Lentz on 5 September, but — after failing to make weight — was forced to pull out on the day of the fight. The weight cut led to Oliveira falling ill, and he did not receive his wage packet as a result.

After victories over Andy Ogle and Hatsu Hioki, Oliveira is back on track after back-to-back losses to top ranked contenders, and has the opportunity to place himself in the top of the division if he can win a third straight. Still just 24, Oliveira has the potential to become a champion one day, but has struggled to put it all together when it has mattered most.
