College football picks against the spread October 9-10
By Mike Marteny
In case you are new to what I am doing here, I pick every FBS vs. FBS game against the spread. I keep track of my results thorughout the season. I take the average of the odds from the Vegas casinos and pick against that, so these lines may be a little off of what you are seeing depending on your source. I round to the nearest half point, so there are no pushes. I either win or lose every game.
This year I am putting the lines up at different times instead of all at once to get a more accurate read on the spreads. It hasn’t helped.

After I reached my goal of 55% last year, I set a lofty goal of 57.5% for this year. As you can see, it hasn’t gone so well. I am just trying to get above .500 by the end of October now! Hey, there is nowhere to go but up!
There are just three games against FCS teams this week, so I have ample opportunity to make up some ground. Let’s see if I can take advantage of it!
This is for entertainment purposes only. If I do make a wager on any of these, I will not let it be known here so as to remain unbiased. I cannot be responsible for you losing your horse, car, or any other mode of transportation. I am a simple man. I cannot have that on my conscience.
There are only four games between Thursday and Friday this week. At the rate I’m going, I would be happy getting two of these…..
BYU at Central Florida(-2.5): Obviously, the injury to Taysom Hill has pushed this line in UCF’s favor, and rightfully so. The Cougars looked awful without Hill. I expect a close one, but I will take UCF at home.
Washington State at (25)Stanford(-17.5): Let’s see Halliday throw for 734 on this defense! He will be lucky to end up with half that. If he ends up with half his yardage and touchdowns from last week’s game, that still gives Wazzu 21 points, and I doubt Stanford would cover that. Give me the Leaches.
San Diego State(-4.5) at New Mexico: I keep getting burned by the Aztecs no matter which way I pick them. They have one more chance. Give me the Aztecs.
Fresno State(-10.5) at UNLV: The Rebels are a shadow of the team that made a bowl last year. That and Fresno is finally figuring their offense out. Give me the Bulldogs.
I wil have the odds for the early games on Saturday up by 7am eastern!
