Honorable Mention: Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers

The San Diego Chargers have been one of the surprising teams so far this season, and are currently sitting at 5-2. Philip Rivers has been the guy that has powered them to their fast start, and has been a major playmaker this season. He has received quite a bit of criticism throughout his career, but he has played through it and is playing perhaps the best season of his career.

So far this season, Rivers has thrown for 1,961 yards and 17 touchdowns, while also only throwing three interceptions. Those numbers are extremely impressive, and he has been making plays each and every game for his offense. Without him on the roster, the Chargers would be in a world of hurt right now.

Rivers may not end up finishing in the top five as far as the MVP race is concerned, but there is no doubt that he will be San Diego’s MVP. Don’t be surprised to see him continue the type of strong play that he has so far this year, and to see him put up one of the best seasons of his career. San Diego has a decent chance to make the playoffs, but they will need their quarterback to continue leading them to big wins.
