5. Michael Vick, New York Jets

Michael Vick got another chance to start for the Jets this week against the red hot Pittsburgh Steelers, and he was able to guide his team to a 20-13 victory. He hadn’t shown too much in his first few games as the starter, but finally broke out with a solid performance. The Jets have desperately been searching for a quarterback to step up and play a good complete game, and Vick did that this week.

Vick threw for 132 yards and completed 10 of his 18 passing attempts, and also had two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran for 39 yards on eight carries. It’s going to be intriguing to see what he’s able to do over the next couple of weeks as he continues to start, and whether or not he can solidify his starting job.

New York isn’t going to make any late season run at the playoffs, but getting a few wins would be good for the fan base. Vick was a star at one point in his career with the Atlanta Falcons, and perhaps getting this type of confidence boost can help him regain a small piece of that ability.
