Nintendo To Make Classic GameBoy Games Available On iPhone?
By Josh Hill
Nintendo has always been at the cutting edge of technology and they may have another breakthrough by way of revolutionizing mobile gaming.
For years, people everywhere have gone underground to find game emulators to play classic console games from Nintendo, Sega and others on their laptops and mobile devices. This teeters on the line of being legal and ethical but Nintendo could come along and change that with a new patent the company has filed.

Rather than go after gamers the way the music industry has gone after it’s listeners, Nintendo is seeing the demand for game emulation and is trying to supply it.
According to TechCrunch, Nintendo may be angling to make their catalog of games dating all the way back to classic GemBoy games available on mobile devices everywhere.
"A new patent published by the USPTO yesterday details an invention by Nintendo that would allow it to emulate its mobile game consoles, including the Game Boy line of devices specifically, in other settings, including on seat-back displays in airplanes and trains, and on mobile devices including cell phones."
This isn’t a new idea, but it could be a game changer. We’ve seen studios come out with their games on different platforms as classic games such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and The Sims are available on mobile devices but an event like a studio making entire catalogs available — especially Nintendo — could change the game forever.
