The New Orleans Saints had a rough season in 2014, and that was reflected with their stumble in jersey sales as a whole.

Drew Brees is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but not even he could will the Saints out of the losing funk they were in a season long. From starting out terribly in the NFC South to finishing on the outside of the playoff picture after being eliminated with a week left in the season, it was a down year in every way for the Saints.

There was some upside though, as the Saints managed to rank inside of the Top 30 in overall player jersey sales, according to DICK’s Jersey Report.

Drew Brees led the charge, as he finished No. 26 overall in jersey sales for the year but wasn’t joined by much company on the list. There were bright spots to be had, but there wasn’t much else said for jersey sales with other Saints players.

A bright spot was rookie receiver Brandin Cooks, who consistently ranked in the Top 10 for rookie sales until he had to go on IR and end his season early. The hype about Cooks faded at that point, but fans still remembered him enough to make his jersey the 10th best selling jersey of the season among rookie players.

Cooks might have gotten a higher finish than that, had he not been injured, as despite missing most of the season he still ranked well in jersey sales. The Saints were boosted by the guy who usually gives them the boost they need — Drew Brees. He accounted for most of the Saints jersey sales this year and while the team failed to make it to the postseason, that support from Saints fans likely isn’t going to go anywhere.
