With so much uncertainty surrounding the San Diego Chargers and potential relocation, it’s understandable that fans of the franchise have been a bit wary of investing their hard earned money into the team. Still, when it comes to purchasing a San Diego Chargers jersey, the man who gets the glory is quarterback Philip Rivers who yet again leads the team in jersey sales.

It was a solid campaign for Rivers who helped put the Bolts in position for a playoff birth though a loss in Week 17 extinguished those hopes. That didn’t hurt the sales of Philip Rivers jersey though as he cracked the top fifty players overall, ranking as the 46th best selling jersey during the 2014 NFL season according to the DICK’S Sporting Goods Jersey Report.

Rivers’ jersey was among one of the most balanced sales in the league as 36 percent of his purchases were by men while 30 percent of women also picked up his uniform. Philip Rivers’ jersey was also popular among youth sales as well as they amassed for 34 percent of his sales.

Most of Philip Rivers’ jerseys were sold in Southern California, namely the greater San Diego area, but there were also strong sales in Colorado, home to the divisional rival Denver Broncos. One of the largest companies in the San Diego area, Qualcomm, who also owns the naming rights to the stadium where the Chargers play, has a strong influence in Denver so perhaps that’s why there was a surge in sales in Colorado.

Outside of Rivers, Ryan Mathews, Antonio Gates and Manti Te’o all sold well though it was Rivers who lead them all.
