John Fox: 5 best destinations for former Broncos coach
By Evan Massey
4. Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins currently have Joe Philbin as their head coach, but they have shown interest in moving on if they can find the right candidate. Philbin has done a great job of building the Dolphins back to being legitimate playoff contenders, but he doesn’t have too much room left to grow the team.
Ryan Tannehill is begging to prove himself to be the Dolphins’ quarterback, and he was able to lead them to an 8-8 record that could have easily been better. Miami lost three games by less than a touchdown, and lost a really tough game against the New York Jets late in the year. Adding John Fox’s experience would be huge for the Dolphins.
Obviously the Dolphins may not choose to pursue this option, but adding Fox over Philbin would be a major upgrade.
Miami can’t be thought of as a “likely” scenario for Fox, but he could probably get the job if he wanted it. They have a talented young quarterback, running back, and a very underrated defense. There are a lot of things going for them, and adding a new head coach with the type of presence that Fox would bring could be the move that takes them over the top.
