Google is in talks with Elon Musk to invest $1 billion into SpaceX.
As we’ve said before, Elon Musk is a man who will stop at nothing to show that he is without a doubt the closest thing the world will ever get to having a real life Tony Stark.

However, many of his plans — like trying to put the internet on Mars or building a super fast rail connecting San Francisco to Los Angeles — require a whole lot of money. The kind of money that even Elon Musk (who is worth an estimated $8.6 billion) doesn’t have.
So it’s a good thing there are plenty of investors out there who want to see his ideas come to life. Investors with the kind of capital to fund programs like SpaceX, Musk’s space transportation company which seeks to enable space exploration and the eventual settlement of Mars. Investors like Google.
In fact, Google is currently in talks with Musk to invest a billion dollars into the company, according to the Information. This would put SpaceX’s value just above $10 billion.
The alliance is both in the interest of Google and consumers alike, since Musk is planning to help bring high-speed internet to scores of people all over the globe — including people in remote rural areas — through a new satellite communications system within five years.
So it’s no wonder why Google has a vested interest in Musk’s project. Especially since the search giant has planned to bring internet access to people in remote areas previously with their “Project Loon,” which utilized the use of large internet carrying balloons and releasing them over remote areas, according to Mashable.
Google has tested this in areas around New Zealand, releasing upwards to 30 balloons into the air with plans to launch 20 more.
Now, with Musk’s help, they might see their project a little more refined and a heck of a lot more space aged.
