There’s been a lot happening in the last few days, so we decided we needed to sit back down at the roundtable to have a little discussion.
Kyle Korver dunked the other day. Were you aware that Kyle Korver was capable of dunking a basketball?
Jack (@jackhaveitall):
Haha, no.
Eric (@EricBuenning):
I had heard stories, but I myself did not believe.
Zach (@ZachOliverNBA):
I mean, I knew he could shoot. I just assumed because he is tall that he could. So, kinda?
Chris (@ChrisBarnewall):
I sort of knew? Every NBA player can dunk right? It would shock me if there was a player in the NBA that couldn’t dunk. That didn’t make the dunk less exciting though, because Kyle Korver does not dunk in games. It just doesn’t happen.
Wes (@wcgoldberg):
I didn’t even know who could step inside the 3-point line. Now we know what happens.
Monta Ellis have it all when it comes to basketball. What are you the Monta Ellis of in your life? In what aspect do you have it all?
Jack:
Tweeting? Yeah, I’ll go with sending tweets on Twitter dot com. (Wow, what a thrilling, productive life.)
Eric:
Button up shirts? My god, that’s depressing.
Zach:
I’m like Monta in the kitchen. If you follow me on instagram, you know I throw down and have it all in there. So, I’ll go with that.
Chris:
Video games. I have the confidence, swagger, and gunning of Monta Ellis when it comes to any video game I have ever played. Chris Barnewall have it all.
Wes:
I have the complete discography of the following artists: Green Day, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Norah Jones and Vampire Weekend. I have it all.
If for one afternoon of pickup basketball you could have Russell Westbrook’s athleticism or Stephen Curry’s shooting ability, which one would you pick?
Jack:
Man, I think for just one day I’d have to go with Westbrook’s athleticism. I mean Curry’s shooting ability would be sick, but dunking is always more dope than shooting threes. Nothing is more fun than lowering a basketball hoop to 8 feet and just throwing down ridiculous dunks, and I have to imagine that being able to do that during a real game would be a top five greatest feeling in the world.
Eric:

For one day, I’d go with Westbrook’s athleticism. Could you imagine if you split the defense and just hammered one down around your opponents? They would LOVE you. And who doesn’t enjoy being loved once in a while. Wait…
Zach:
Well, when I was like, 8-13 years of age, I had Curry’s shooting stroke. {Ed. note: Stunt on ’em Zach!} They couldn’t handle me on the playground. I’d pick Westbrook’s athleticism and what not. I mean, I’m an average height white guy who can jump sometimes, but nowhere near as high as Russ does. So, that’d be fun and I’d prolly just jump over a bunch of people and end up hurting myself, or something.
Chris:
Westbrook’s athleticism. I’ve always wondered what it was like to be that fast, and jump that high. I would run and jump EVERYWHERE, and people would come to know me as the guy that runs and jumps everywhere for a whole day.
Wes:
I’m going with Westbrook’s athleticism. It would be cool to shoot like Steph for an afternoon on the courts, but one of the coolest things about shooting the lights out is getting the crowd super pumped. The crowd on the courts doesn’t compare to an NBA arena and I don’t know if the same thrill would exist. Like, I couldn’t drain a 3-pointer and turn around and hold up three fingers to the crowd. I would look ridiculous. Instead, I’ll experience the thrill of running faster and jumping over everyone. I feel like that’s more thrilling for me and more embarrassing for those I’m playing.
How many dollars would you pay in order to acquire Mr. Westbrook’s skills for a day?
Jack:
I’d drop 50 bucks to be able to play like Russ for an afternoon.
Eric:
One hundred American dollars.
Zach:
I mean, this would require me to have money, lol. But, I’d prolly pay whatever I had to play like him for a day.
Chris:
How much does my college tuition cost? Yeah, that.
Wes:
Who is selling these skills? Does it drain the skills from the players like the Monstars? Do they except credit? Wait, is this even legal? What’s exactly the supply and demand here? Like, if I buy the skills can someone else also buy those skills and we can have them at the same time? Or can only one person at a time have them? If that’s the case, that could create a bidding war. The pressure of those stresses me out. I’ll get back to you.
