Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell is throwing his player under the bus for that final play of the Super Bowl.

The Seattle Seahawks had the ball and were knocking on the door of the end zone with a chance to win Super Bowl XLIX. While everyone was thinking the Seahawks would hand it off to their powerful running back Marshawn Lynch, they called a short slant route instead.

The pass, intended for Ricardo Lockette, was picked off by New England Patriots defensive back Malcolm Butler to seal the win.

Everyone was baffled by the call, including Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith, who has three Super Bowl rings and called it the worst play call he had seen in the history of football.

While many are blaming the coaches, Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, there are still some finding blame elsewhere.

That’s right, offensive coordinator Bevell is saying Lockette could’ve been stronger to the ball to prevent the interception, or even catch the pass for a touchdown.

How can a coach put that on a player’s shoulders like that, especially when so many people are criticizing the play calling? I guess it is all about saving your own skin.
