Sammie Coates, WR, Auburn

Coates is a guy people are starting to warm to as the draft evaluation process has gone along. He has outstanding size (6-foot-2, 201 pounds) and great length. His straight-line speed is fantastic and he could run in the low 4.3-range.

While Coates has some major question marks, his pure physical ability should impress scouts this week.

Coates’ ball skills aren’t great, his hands fail him at times and he doesn’t fight for 50-50 passes hard enough. He also caught just 34 passes for 741 yards and four touchdowns as a junior in 2014. But none of that will matter at the combine, where his size and raw athleticism will likely turn him into one of the big stars of the week.

Coates has to know that if his combine showing is a dud, he’ll likely drop into the middle of the draft. With that in mind, I expect him to have a big week.
