Back in August of last year, it was officially confirmed that Tom Hanks would once again be putting on the tweed jacket as Harvard professor Robert Langdon in the upcoming thriller.
Unfortunately, just two months later the film would see a setback as Sony Pictures elected to move the film’s release date from December 18, 2015 to almost a full year later on October 14, 2016.
It wasn’t until early last month that the official cast of the film would be announced and we would finally get a look at some of the faces that would be joining Tom Hanks in the upcoming action-packed thriller.
As you know by now, Felicity Jones will be playing the role of Dr. Sienna Brooks. She is one of the most crucial characters in the story as she is the one who will be by Professor Langdon’s side as he attempts to track down a deadly virus set forth by her former lover Bertrand Zobrist.
Also named to the cast is Sidse Babett Knudsen as Dr. Elizabeth Sinskey, X-Men: Days of Future Past actor Omar Sy as Christoph Bruder, and Jurassic World actor Irrfan Khan as Harry Sims.
Now, it seems as if there is someone new who is about to shake things up in Inferno.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warcraft actor Ben Foster will be joining the film alongside Tom Hanks and the rest of the cast. Unfortunately, the one thing they do not reveal is exactly who he will be playing in the film.
The one thing that they did say is that Foster will play in a “key villainous role” in the film. This makes us wonder whether or not he will be taking up the role of Bertrand Zobrist, the man responsible for the deadly virus at the center of Langdon’s journey with Dr. Brooks.
As you can imagine, there has been no confirmation regarding this information, so you may take this one as you will; simply the ramblings of someone head over heels in love with the Robert Langdon series.
The one thing that has always boggled us is why the motion picture universe has decided to hop over The Lost Symbol, the next book in the Robert Langdon series to follow The Da Vinci Code in print from bestselling author Dan Brown.
We simply have to believe that they know just what they are doing and that everything will make sense in good time.
For now, we will sit back and await any little juicy detail we can get about Inferno. Each of the stories in the Robert Langdon series have such rich detail and gripping stories that you never truly know what they have in store for us next. Hopefully, the films will continue to live up to the legacy set forth by Dan Brown in his novels.
Inferno is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2016.
