10 Best Premier League Celebrations
By Kris Whelan
No.1- Mario Balotelli
Another celebration on this list that comes against Manchester United, and another goal scored from a controversial striker. Mario Balotelli divides opinion just as much as Luis Suarez, with many fans loyal to the Italian while the majority of fans enjoy some of his antics but feel he is a ridiculous human.
The phrase “he doesn’t have a care in the world” sums up the now Liverpool striker better than any other term I can think of. He is renowned for his off the field antics or his short temper on it, here are some of the things he has done throughout his career.
- Got fined £100,000 (a weeks wages at the time) for throwing darts out the window with the hope of hitting youth players.
- Got arrested along with his 17 year old brother after being found walking around a womans’ prison in Italy. His reasoning was “I was just having a look”.
- After being sent out to get cleaning supplies by his mother, Mario returned to the house with a van driving behind him. The van driver unloaded a giant trampoline, two Vespa scooters and not one single cleaning product.
It’s safe to say that the Italian striker lives by his own rules and doesn’t particularly care about the general public’s opinion about his antics. Without a doubt, the crown jewel in his career had to be his preparation for the Manchester derby and the derby itself.
Less than 36 hours before his rival clash with Manchester United, the young City player set part of his house on fire when he apparently thought it was a good idea to let off some fireworks indoors, as you do. The damage to the house was enough to warrant Balotelli to stay in a hotel until it was repaired.
Not ideal prepration for such a big away game right? Apparently not as super Mario scored two goals and Manchester City won 6-1. The high point of the match? Mario’s ‘Why Alway Me?’ celebration!
