After the NCAA introduced the Hall of Fame inductees, John Calipari heard some boos after his name was called in Indianapolis.

John Calipari is one of the best coaches in college basketball. No one can deny that. Especially after he led his Kentucky Wildcats to 38 straight wins before falling to Wisconsin in the Final Four this season. But just because you are successful, does not mean you are well liked. And Calipari learned that soon after his name was announced during the NCAA tournament championship game on Monday night as one of the inductees of the Hall of Fame.

If you listen closely you can hear a faint amount of boos from the Wisconsin and Duke fans attending the National title game. For Wisconsin, I don’t see why they would boo the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats. After all, they just defeated the best team in the nation to advance in the tournament. Have Wisconsin fans ever heard of winning with class? Probably not.

For Duke fans, besides Kentucky stealing away a few five-star recruits here and there, there isn’t really a reason to boo Calipari either. So maybe this was just an overall feeling of hatred towards one of college basketballs finest.

At least Calipari had a sense of humor about the whole ordeal. He later tweeted out a response to the boos that hilariously turned the people booing on their own head.

People tend to hate successful people no matter the platform. As Justin Bieber so elegantly put: “Haters are just confused admirers.” So hate on college basketball fans, Coach Cal is here to stay and torment your favorite team for years to come.
