Rory McIlroy is joining One Direction, well for one night anyways as the four-time major champion will sing one song with them on stage at a concert at Gillette Stadium this fall.

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to see world number one golfer Rory McIlroy as a member of a boy band?

Well, here’s your chance to see the world’s best golfer perform with One Direction at a concert on Sept. 12 from Gillette Stadium.

Why in the world would Rory get on stage with One Direction? Simple, he owes it to One Direction singer Niall Horan who served as his caddy for the Par 3 contest earlier this week at Augusta National.

Instead of paying the One Direction singer, Rory and Niall arranged a deal that McIlroy will hop on stage and sing a song when the band visits Massachusetts later this year, according to Todd Lewis of the Golf Channel, McIlroy will sing with One Direction in September.

“As part of their deal, McIlroy will now have to sing on stage with one of the world’s most popular bands when they play Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts on Sept. 12. The concert falls a few days after the PGA Tour’s Boston-area Deutsche Bank Championship, the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs.”

McIlroy is about to tee off for the final round of this year’s Masters and begins the day in a tie for fifth place at -6, but he’s 10 off the blistering pace set by Jordan Spieth.

His best finish at Augusta National came last year when the Northern Ireland native finished in a tie for eighth. The 2014 season for McIlroy was his finest on the tour with wins in The Open Championship and the PGA Championship.

McIlroy was the PGA Tour money leader, PGA Tour Player of the Year, European Tour Player of the Year and won the Byron Nelson Award, Vardon Trophy and regained the world number one ranking after winning the World Golf Championship event for the first time at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

He became the new “it” guy on tour with Tiger Woods mired in a prolonged slump due to injury and ineffectiveness and Jack Nicklaus praised him in comments to the Telegraph and said he could break his major record.

“Rory is an unbelievable talent. I think Rory has an opportunity to win 15 or 20 majors or whatever he wants to do if he wants to keep playing. I love his swing, I love his rhythm, I love his moxie. He’s got a little swagger there, it’s a little bit cocky but not offensive.”

No word on whether the Golden Bear will be performing with the Rolling Stones this summer or if he’ll be championing Rory’s singing talents.
