He Has The ‘Clutch Gene’

The clutch gene is something that can’t really be quantified or seen in the stat book. It can only be felt as a player competes throughout his career whether he possesses this ability to come through down the stretch for his team. I believe that Anthony Davis has this ability.

In early February, Davis hit an almost god-like three point double pump buzzer beater to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder. The shot fooled former NBA MVP Kevin Durant and proved to be pretty valuable in the Pelicans’ playoff chase late in the season.

This isn’t the only instance of Davis harnessing his inner MJ either. Last year, he hit a beautiful jumper in the closing seconds even through he was double teamed.

It’s moments like this that make a player great. When you watch close games with the Pelicans, there isn’t a member in the arena who is working harder or more focused than Anthony Davis. His hunger for wins and ability to turn that hunger into success make him one of the most clutch players in the NBA. Which is just another reason why he deserves that max deal.
