Five NFL Teams That Should Trade for Philip Rivers

Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins made big moves this offseason, including the signing of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, acquiring wide receiver Kenny Stills, and extending center Mike Pouncey. They could make a bigger splash by getting a guaranteed franchise quarterback.
Ryan Tannehill has been a solid quarterback for the Dolphins, but after his third year, he has yet to deliver a winning season for the Miami faithful. Three years definitely is not enough to judge the full potential of a quarterback, but it is enough time to balk at a contract extension, hit the eject button, and go after a Pro-Bowler if he becomes available.
Philip Rivers does not have a huge arm, but he shows little fear in slinging the ball down the field and giving his receivers a chance to make a play – something Ryan Tannehill has yet to do confidently in his three years as a starter. Mike Wallace might be gone, but having a quarterback that can stretch the defense vertically is still a skill set that can be utilized by this Miami Dolphin team.
The San Diego Chargers may not want to part with Rivers for anything other than Mariota, but the prospect of an athletic, promising 26-year-old quarterback working under Mike McCoy is intriguing and gives the team a new face in the backfield to build off of in the upcoming years. Doesn’t hurt to ask, right?
