Where should James Bond go next?
With the new Bond film ‘SPECTRE’ on the horizon and such beautiful locations like Austria, Italy, Morocco and Mexico featured in it, I asked myself what countries James Bond hasn´t yet been too. A look on the many Bond location maps gives you a good overview of where agent 007 has been so far. However, there are also plenty of countries that have never been seen in a Bond film. Let´s have a look at where our beloved secret agent could go next in one of his upcoming adventures.
AUSTRALIA
Very high up on the list of desired locations is the world´s sixth largest country with a lot of open outback space to come up with some cool action sequences. Additionally, Australia features some stunning landmarks that would look absolutely great in a Bond film: Sydney Opera House, Heart Reef, Wine Glass Bay and of course Uluru (Ayers Rock)
SWEDEN

The third largest country in the European Union has a lot more to offer than the stereotypical knäckebröd (crisp bread), ABBA or IKEA. Not only could a Bond film make good use of the capital city Stockholm which has a lovely historic district (Gamla Stan) full of tiny streets waiting to be the setting for a cat & mouse game, there is also the midnight sun phenomenon occuring during the summer months. Should there be the need for a thrilling boat chase, the historic Göta Canal could serve as a location. It´s 384 miles long, passes through the lakes Vättern and Vänern and connects the city of Gothenburg with the Baltic Sea.
ANTARCTICA
Granted, this is probably the most extreme suggestion for a Bond film location as there is literally nothing beside ice on the earths coldest continent. Apart from scientists, no people live there. Couldn´t such a hostile environment be just the thing for some crazy supervillain? Gustav Graves (‘DIE ANOTHER DAY’) only made it as far as Iceland, so why not make it even more interesting?
ARGENTINA
Have countries beginning with the letter “A” generally been overlooked? Mere coincidence, I guess. While James Bond has already visited Brazil (‘MOONRAKER’, 1979) and Bolivia (‘QUANTUM OF SOLACE’, 2008), he has not seen much more of Latin America. So why not go to Argentina next? The second largest country in Latin America offers a lot of location opportunities: rugged topography, subtropical areas, jungle. Then there are cultural aspects like the Tango – wouldn´t you like to see Bond in a fiery Tango scene with a gorgeous Latin beauty hiding a gun in her garter? A villain lair could either be located in the “Valley of the Moon” in Ischigualasto Provincial Park 300 miles from the city of San Juan or on “Cerro Torre” in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field range, the worlds most difficult mountain for climbers.
