Captain America: Civil War releases cast and plot
With Age of Ultron in theaters now and a whole host of new characters added and subtracted from films it can be hard to keep track of who is going to be in what. The next Marvel film to come out is Ant-Man on July 17th, but proceeding that will be Captain America: Civil War in May 2016. The title has given us a small hint as to what the movie will be based on, as well as the plot to Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Marvel announced today the list of characters set to appear in Captain America: Civil War. It is hard to talk about this without a few Age of Ultron spoilers so if you haven’t seen it and you don’t want to know anything that happens stop now aka [spoiler alert]. With internal turmoil there is a new sect of the Avengers formed and this seems to be the basis for this film, as well as list of new characters in the film.
The plot was described by Marvel as:
"“Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.”"
As shown at the end of Age of Ultron, the new Avengers will be lead by CAP, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and include Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, Paul Bettany’s Vision, Don Cheadle’s War Machine, and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.
Chad Bosewick is also slated to Black Panther, new to the cinematic Marvel universe. The Winter Soldier played by Sebestian Stan will be in this Civil War, next to Emily VanCamp as Agent 13, and William Hurt as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.
This is going to be a huge undertaking to try to involve all these superheroes in one movie with a cohesive plot. The Marvel universe is becoming quiet crowded and it will be interesting to see how Marvel balances telling the stories of each character they introduce.
When we found out that Marvel had a list of movies as long as the ingredients in a Twinkie, we were all excited. With so much content though and so many players it presents an interesting challenging for each director for each film
Lets hope Director Joe Russo who did Winter Soldier and Community can keep the story concise and leave the set of Civil War not too cluttered.
