The Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Cavaliers are beginning a big Eastern Conference Finals series on Wednesday night and there are many big names in attendance in Atlanta.
Hometown favorite, rapper 2 Chainz, is sitting courtside for the game, no surprise seeing as he’s one of the most popular artists in the game and he’s rich enough, and well-liked enough, to sit courtside for any game in Atlanta that he would like.
The Hawks have a solid relationship with the 37-year-old rapper from College Park, Georgia, even hosting a “2 Chainz Night” in March where there was a live halftime performance by him as well as him reading player introductions at the start of the contest.
Atlanta and 2 Chainz are a match made in heaven, the team loves him, the city loves him and he loves the city.
In attendance at Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against LeBron James’ Cavs, 2 Chainz got to show off his new stylish look that seemingly only he has sported. Hopefully this bandana-inspired poncho doesn’t become an actual fad.
I’m not sure what what’s a worse look, the bandana covering his entire body or the one on his head that just seems like overkill. I’m not the fashion police, by any means, but I can point out a ridiculous look when I see one and this is exactly that.
The Hawks are currently trailing the Cavs by double-digits and it’s looking like LeBron is going to take his team to Game 2 with a 1-0 lead on the road.
Cleveland was favored in the series, although the Cavaliers were the lower seed, and taking Game 1 against the No. 1 seed on the road has to be a pretty good feeling for the team with the most pressure of any team left in the playoffs.
2 Chainz and his courtside style weren’t enough to give the Hawks some good luck in Game 1 as the team hasn’t really dominated any series thus far and are getting a serious challenge from the Cavs.
Atlanta will need a better showing from its stars for the rest of the series, and heck, maybe 2 Chainz can even take the court as a member of the team; he did play a little ball back in the day.
He can leave this look at home next time, though.
