14. player. 149. <p>After trading away Reggie Jackson, who wasn’t coming back anyways this summer, the Thunder created a need at guard that could be filled by the guy they’re reportedly very high on. Just like R.J. Hunter, Murray State’s Cameron Payne has been a draft riser and the Thunder would be enamored if he fell to them at the end of the lottery.</p> <p>Russell Westbrook is going to be the superstar point guard of the future for the Thunder, but he’s not under contract beyond 2016. That doesn’t mean he’s a goner for sure, but Payne not only provides immediate backup relief but he also provides a potential replacement if Westbrook leaves.</p> <p>With the threat of Westbrook and Kevin Durant leaving, Payne is an excellent prospect to develop and hopefully turn the reigns over to in a few years if everything blows up.</p> <p> </p>.
