Fantasy football: 8 late round TE to target
Vernon Davis-San Francisco 49ers
Last season, Vernon Davis was another tight end whose season was derailed by injury. Davis had his fewest catches since his rookie year only hauling in 26 passes for a career-low 245 yards. He struggled throughout the season and virtually disappeared off the fantasy radar.
The reason there is some hope for him bouncing back this season is that he reportedly is back to full health this preseason. Coach Jim Tomsula is expected to incorporate Davis into the offense more this season, and he should be one of Colin Kaepernick’s frequent targets. The 49ers lost Michael Crabtree and Stevie Johnson this offseason, and Davis is a familiar direction to look for Kap even though the ‘niners did bring in some new receivers as well.
Davis has been held without a catch this preseason, but if the 49ers D forces San Francisco to play from behind Davis could end up with a nice bounce back season. The 49ers offense has not looked good this preseason, but they’ll need to get things going if they are going to avoid the huge letdown many are expecting.
Right now according to ADP, Davis is the 17th TE being drafted going in the 16th round. He has been a fantasy football factor before, and he’s worth a look as a late round TE look if you are looking for someone who has some upside and some experience as a fantasy option.
