After EA Sports nearly set the internet on fire Monday, they explained themselves in regards to a potential new NCAA Football game.

Monday was a great day to begin with when we all woke up this morning. Right off the bat, we knew that in a few short hours we would see the Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers take the field to crown a new national champion in college football. Then, something we all thought was amazing happened.

On their Facebook page, the folks from EA Sports posted quite the cryptic video that quite frankly led us all to believe that one of the most popular video games in history, NCAA Football, would soon be making a return. With how beloved the game was, this was the most exciting time in a while for those of us in the college football community.

From there, though, things started to go downhill. There were reports that the video was simply posted in regards to the game on Monday night, and just a short time ago, EA Sports issued this statement completely crushing all of our dreams for good.

Yeah, that’s nice and all … but come on! Sorry, but I am having a very hard time believing that the social media personnel for EA Sports thought posting just a video of a beating pulse would automatically lead us to believe that they were talking about Alabama vs Clemson.

Now had they captioned something along the lines of, “Our heart is beating for Alabama and Clemson,” then yeah. But there was nothing posted on that Facebook account since 2014, and this was the first thing they put up? They had to know …

Either way, the dream, which really didn’t live all that long on Monday morning, is officially dead.
