Chris Paul and Robin Lopez get into things at Madison Square Garden.

The Los Angeles Clippers are taking on the New York Knicks tonight in New York at the historic Madison Square Garden. The Clippers are currently 27-15 and are trying to fight their way to the top of the Western Conference, but tonight they were involved in fighting that they need not be doing.

Chris Paul and Robin Lopez, along with multiple other bodies, were going up for a rebound, when bodies collided. Paul looked to have the best angle at the ball, but he collided with his teammate and Lopez. Paul looked to grab Lopez’s hand or arm, so Lopez swung his left arm across his body, striking Paul in the head. Paul would have to leave the game, after the hit he took drew blood.

The Clippers have been known for being extremely physical with DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin on the court, but Lopez hasn’t been known as being the cleanest player in the league, either. The NBA has tried to eliminate this kind of play because the league’s front office thinks it makes the game look unprofessional and dirty.

It wouldn’t be surprising if one or both players were fined in some way. Lopez was ejected from the game because his left arm jab caused Paul to bleed.
