2. Guy Boucher

Guy Boucher was recently fired by SC Bern overseas. He is ready and willing to get another well deserved shot in the NHL. Boucher did quite well during his time in Tampa Bay. The head coach proved that he was willing to make whatever adaptations and changes he needed to make to win. That’s something that Mike Yeo never did. As much as opposing fans hated the trap that Boucher ran in Tampa Bay, it worked quite well because, well, Boucher won. At the end of the day, that’s what matters.

Boucher wouldn’t be inheriting a forward group quite like the one that he had in Tampa, but it would be a talented one nonetheless. Parise and Niederreiter certainly have the speed to make teams pay for turnovers. Guy had a ton of success doing that in Tampa. He proved overseas that he is more than just a one trick pony. SC Bern played a much more wide open game than the Lightning did.

Boucher would succeed where Mike Yeo failed. Yeo failed because he couldn’t make adjustments. Guy has proven that he can. That’s what it takes to win in the NHL. To be willing to do whatever it takes to win even if you know that you won’t be liked for it.
