Kendrick Perkins clotheslines Damian Lillard to the ground (Video)

Pelicans big man Kendrick Perkins took matters into his own hands and viciously clotheslined Blazers guard Damian Lillard.

There was an ugly scene on the floor in the NBA in New Orleans on Friday night, when the New Orleans Pelicans faced off against the Portland Trail Blazers. With the Trail Blazers up on the Pelicans late and threatening to run away with the game, Pelicans big man Kendrick Perkins let his emotions get the better of him, as he decided to viciously clothesline Damian Lillard to the ground.

As Lillard went around Perkins in the lane, Perkins decided to extend his arm and deliver the brutal shot, which sent the much smaller Lillard straight to the ground. Players would jump in and begin pushing and shoving each other and Perkins would immediately be ejected from the game and sent into the corridors right onto the locker rooms of the Smoothie King Center.

It’s not quite clear what set Perkins off, as he rarely gets to see much playing time on the floor, but it’s clear that something upset him enough to clothesline Lillard. However, there’s absolutely no reason for this type of behavior on the court to occur and it’s safe to say that he will be disciplined accordingly.

It’s a scene that no one wants to see unfold and it’s certainly something that has to be and should be addressed immediately by the league.
