Minnesota Vikings mock draft: Complete 7-round edition
One of the Vikings biggest areas of need is at linebacker. Anthony Barr and Chad Greenway lead an already-impressive outside linebacking unit. While Barr is one of the league’s top, young outside linebackers, and he likely won’t be going anywhere any time soon, Greenway’s future is less clear.
Greenway is getting up there in age, at 33, and he’s already said that he is fine with moving on from the Vikings. He doesn’t have a contract signed past the 2015 season just yet, and it might be time he finds a new home. With that in mind, the Vikings should go for Jordan Jenkins out of Georgia in the fourth round.
Greenway has put up over 1,000 total tackles in his career with the Vikings, which means there will be plenty of pressure on a fourth-rounder to fill his shows, but Jenkins has the potential.
Jenkins didn’t really live up to the hype heading into his senior year as a preseason All-SEC first-teamer and even an All-American candidate, according to Phil Steele. But he showed how dynamic he was, even playing a little as a down lineman. He finished his final season at Georgia with 59 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and four sacks.
The linebacker doesn’t have a standout frame, but he can play both end and outside linebacker, if need be. He’s an excellent rusher and finished his career with 39 tackles for loss and 19 sacks.
