Randy Moss wasn’t just one of the greatest players in Vikings history, he was also one of the best receivers to ever grace the NFL. Attending hometown Marshall for college, Moss took a circuitous route to stardom and led the Thundering Herd with some video game-like numbers after transferring from Florida State as a freshman.

In two seasons with Marshall, Moss caught 174 passes for 3,529 yards and 54 touchdowns. He was an absolute freak on the field and the two-time All-American saw his stock rise like crazy, eventually getting selected No. 21 overall in the 1998 NFL Draft by the Vikings.

Moss had an instant impact. As a rookie, he caught 69 passes for 1,313 yards and 17 touchdowns. It was obvious that he’d be one of the most difficult players to cover in the league for years and the 1998 NFL Rookie of the Year didn’t stop there.

For the first six years of his NFL career, he had over 1,000 yards receiving and combined for 77 touchdown receptions during that time. Moss’ final season, 2004, in his first stint with the Vikings was injury-plagued as he was fighting through hamstring issues, leading to his first career sub-1,000 yard season. He was traded to the Oakland Raiders in the offseason.

Randy had one more season left with the Vikings in 2010 as he played just four games with the team, catching 13 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns. He was waived before the season was over and then retired from football in 2012.

Throughout his impressive career, Moss caught 982 passes for 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler, four-time All-Pro, five-time NFL receiving touchdowns leader and holds the league record for most touchdowns in a single season (23).
