And here we are at the best draft pick in Minnesota Vikings history: Adrian Peterson. The running back out of Oklahoma happens to be the best in franchise history and his career isn’t finished just yet. The 31-year-old still has some life left in those legs.

For a running back to be selected in the top 10 of any NFL Draft, they must be considered unstoppable. Peterson is as close to unstoppable as running backs in this league get and he was picked No. 7 overall in the 2007 NFL Draft.

At Oklahoma, all he did was earn All-American honors and finish second in Heisman voting as a true freshman. During that season, he rushed for 1,925 yards and 15 touchdowns and it really wasn’t a shock to see him have all that success since he was the nation’s top recruit. His numbers decreased by year and as a junior, he broke his collarbone and missed seven games.

Declaring that he would forgo his senior season to enter the NFL Draft, the Vikings loved their chances of snagging him in the first round and they did just that. Minnesota has been graced with his presence ever since.

Peterson has rushed for 11,675 yards and 97 touchdowns over his career and he’s even been a monster after his ACL injury, suffered in 2011. In fact, he won his first, and only, NFL MVP award the year after his knee injury, proving that he’s not human. He rushed for 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns in the 2012 season.

The former MVP has also been named to seven Pro Bowls, has been named an All-Pro seven times, won the Offensive Player of the Year award and is the Vikings’ all-time rushing yards, attempts and touchdowns leader.
