Glen “Big Baby” Davis has been out of the NBA this season. The last team he played for was the Los Angeles Clippers, but most will always remember him as a backup big man for those Boston Celtics teams with Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce.
Davis may have not been a star, but everybody knew the man known as Big Baby. Partially cause how in the world does nobody know someone with the nickname Big Baby, but also because of Davis’s role in some incredible matchups against the Dwight Howard led Orlando Magic. Back in the late 2000’s, the Magic and Celtics were two title contenders that always had scrappy matchups go down to the wire, and the playoffs only increased the intensity of those games. In a video with ESPN, Davis reminisces about the time he caught one of Howard’s elbows.
This video with Davis has taught us two things. One, we’ve come a long way with shots to the face/head area considering there was a time that a player taking that kind of shot didn’t lead to an immediate end to the game. The other? GLEN DAVIS IS BATMAN! That’s why his NBA career had to end. Davis just didn’t have the time to focus on NBA games when he’s out there battling the joker and keeping Gotham safe. Next time you’re in your bed feeling safe without fear of a super villain destroying the city. Just know you can thank Glen Davis for that.
