Mortal Kombat to have three tie-in beers

Mortal Kombat is looking to score a fatality in the world of tie-in beers.

Beer drinkers rejoice! In the grand tradition of other massive media properties like Game of Thrones and Star Trek, Warner Bros. has paired up with a brewery to release Mortal Kombat-themed beers.

The report comes from Comic Book Resources, which says that the Sound Brewery of Poulsbo, Washington will be starting with a line of three beers named after Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden. Direct inspiration comes straight from Mortal Kombat X.

Here are their official descriptions:

“Sub-Zero Imperial IPA: Refreshingly cooling on a warm day, an Imperial India Pale Ale that’s not all about the hops or the malt but is a whole lot of both fighting it out for your palate’s supremacy. Drink icy for more of the hops or warmer for more malt.

Raiden Imperial Saison: This amped up Imperial Saison has a blast of hops and CO2 that will hit your tongue with a bang. The aroma jumps out of the glass with its earthly and herbal notes not far behind.

Scorpion Imperial Stout: A unique blend for great Imperial Stout brings both fire and ice into your glass. The fiery southwest chilies and cooling Madagascar Vanilla Bean pair nicely with the exotic notes produced by our own yeast strain.”

It only seems appropriate that the Sub-Zero beer can be drunk at multiple temperatures, Scorpion comes with a sting from chilies, and Raiden comes in “with a bang” like a lightning strike from the God of Thunder himself.

The beers will be distributed by Global Beverage Traders and will be available in 22-oz single-serve bombers. The official press release is available via The Beer Connoisseur.
