Mexico took the early lead over Jamaica thanks to a header from Chicharito.

In Copa America Group C action, Mexico took on Jamaica in front of a packed Rose Bowl. The pseudo hosts took the early lead over Jamaica with a goal from Chicharito. The EPL and national team star got wide open off a set piece and headed the ball into the match.

The goal for Chicharito is his 45th international goal for the Mexican star. He is one goal away from the most goals by a Mexican national team player and may find a way to tie and even take over the record before this match ends.

A win against Jamaica would see Mexcio reach the knockout stage of the Copa America Centenario. It would be the first time the federation has reached this part of the Copa America since 2007. They’d sit in second in their group and could possibly take over first if they are able to win all three of their group stage matches and finish with nine points.

It’s been a roller coaster ride for El Tri fans lately, but their national team is under new leadership and playing better than ever before. Their manager loves to make lots of changes to the starting XI between each match and it had worked out for the federation. They definitely aren’t the laughing stock of CONCACAF anymore like they were for a short time.

Chicharito’s goal could end up being the game-winning goal on the night. Nontheless, the soccer star has once again found a way to score in a meaningful game for Mexico.
