1. Los Angeles Lakers

Rondo to  the Lakers talk was heating up for a bit last week, but ever since the Brooklyn Nets took control of the momentum, it has cooled significantly. However, it’s never too late to talk about just how poor of a fit it would be to have Rondo head to Los Angeles.

The Lakers are looking to make major splashes in free agency this summer in guys like Hassan Whiteside and Kevin Durant, but Rondo should be a last resort type of player. If you’re ever going to have D’Angelo Russell mold into an NBA starter and grow into a leader, you’re going to have to hand him the reigns now, instead of later.

Having Rajon Rondo run the offense while Russell sits back and watches is not exactly what you want if you’re going to see the second-year point guard from Ohio State mature into an All-Star like he has the potential to do.

Los Angeles was the worst team in the Western Conference last season, but it won’t be long before this team starts maturing into a serious title threat. The addition of Brandon Ingram in the draft and potential acquisition of Whiteside would give the Lakers a pretty formidable starting lineup.

It would look something like this: Russell, Louis Williams, Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle and Whiteside. Nowhere for Rondo to fit in.
