4. Evan Longoria, 3B, Tampa Bay Rays

Like Kinsler, Evan Longoria will get another chance to be named to the American League All-Star team on Friday, when the results of the Esurance Final Vote are released. For Longoria, it will be a long time coming, as he amazingly has not been named to an All-Star game in six years.

This year should have been different, as he has been the best player on a very bad team. While that may sound like a reason why he should be included on the roster, it is actually a ringing endorsement of how good Longoria has played this year.

Longoria has no protection in the Tampa Bay Rays’ lineup, yet he still has blasted 18 home runs this season. A three-time All-Star (2008-2010), Longoria is batting .278 this season, and has driven in 45 runs.

The Rays are currently in last place in the American League East, and Longoria has gone about his business everyday and put together a nice season.

Manny Machado of the Baltimore Orioles was voted in as the starter, and rightfully so, as he is one of the better players in all of baseball. Josh Donaldson is the other third baseman on the AL Roster, and he is also having another monster season for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Both Machado and Donaldson both deserve to be on the roster, but so does the third baseman in Tampa Bay.
