Finn Balor revealed that his recovery time from shoulder surgery might be longer than expected

Finn Balor was sitting on top of the world last Sunday at WWE SummerSlam, as he was crowned the first-ever WWE Universal Champion following his win over Seth Rollins. However, the joy would not last long, as we would find out not even 24 hours later that he suffered a pretty serious shoulder injury in the match that would require surgery.

Balor came out the next night on RAW and was forced to relinquish the belt that he had just won, and from there it was time to get set for surgery, which the Irish star underwent this week. Now for a time, there was maybe some hope that he could be back in four months, which would be the best case scenario.

Well, unfortunately, there will be no best case scenario. WWE filmed everything that Balor had to go through this past week, and that’s where the former NXT Champion revealed that four months is not really an option any longer, and it’s now looking like six.

Everything about this is just heartbreaking. We as fans waited so long for Balor to hit the main roster, and you know that he was getting impatient in having to wait to. Then he finally gets up there, gets pushed to the moon and immediately has it all taken away from him.

But, as some people have pointed out, maybe in some respects this injury was a blessing in disguise. Maybe it was all just too much, too soon for the former Prince Devitt and this time off might benefit him in the long run. When he returns, presumably in 2017, he will be as hot as ever as he looks to regain the title that he never really lost.

Either way, we all wish Balor a speedy and healthy recovery process.
