McDonald’s has finally bottled Big Mac Special Sauce, but you can’t buy it

You can now get a bottle of Special Sauce of your very own, if you’re lucky.

People of a certain age know the McDonald’s Big Mac jingle by heart. Actually, scratch that. People of all ages at least know it goes “Two all-beef patties, Special Sauce, lettuce, cheese …”

Ah yes, about that Special Sauce. It’s been called Thousand Island dressing since way back, but it’s supposedly more than that. And if you adore it, you’ll be able to get a bottle of it to use at home soon. Maybe.

See, as Food Beast reports (with a h/t to Uproxx), McDonald’s isn’t selling it but will be giving away 10,000 bottles of Special Sauce. How and where? We don’t know that yet. You’ll have to stay tuned to McDonald’s social media accounts to find out.

So the giveaway will be on Jan. 26, but the details are coming tomorrow. Got it.

It’s all part of a big push for the Big Mac itself, which has received two cousins of sorts. The Mac Jr. follows the famous recipe but has only one burger patty and loses the middle bun (sacrilege!) and the Grand Mac offers almost Quarter Pounder-esque patties and more of everything else.

The big question is this: since these Special Sauce bottles are being labeled and promoted as “limited edition,” should you even use them or just hold onto them as collectibles? You know people will have them on eBay for ridiculous prices soon enough.

Regardless, if this is something that gets you excited, keep your eyes on the Twitter and best of luck securing a bottle. And if you can break down the recipe like Plankton always dreamed of doing for the Krabby Patty, let’s talk.
