Luke Rockhold shares a grizzly video of the treatments he’s undergoing to rehab is knee
Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is going through extreme measures to recover from his most recent knee injury.
Taking to his Snapchat, Rockhold showcased the procedure doctors are implementing to get him back inside the Octagon
“I had to get fat so they could take the stem cells off my lower back, which they liposuctioned out,” Rockhold told the camera.

In terms of competition, Rockhold (15-3), also the former Strikeforce champion, was scheduled to rematch Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza in December before pulling out of the bout with the knee injury. Rockhold won in their initial contest under the Strikeforce banner in 2011. The American Kickboxing Academy product was looking to get back into the win column after losing his belt in spectacular fashion to current champ Michael Bisping at UFC 199 in June.
Prior to devastating setback, Rockhold scored a submission former light heavyweight champion turned middleweight contender Lyoto Machida before dethroning the champion Chris Weidman with a dominant fourth round TKO in their title fight UFC 194.
To date, 13 of his 15 career wins have ended in stoppage, including nine submission wins and 10 coming within the opening frame.
There is currently no word on when Rockhold is expected to return to competition.
As far as the rest of the middleweight division, Jacare is scheduled to face Tim Boetsch at UFC 208 on Saturday while Bispsing is expected to put his middleweight title on the line against current number one contender Yoel Romero sometime this year.
Gegard Mousasi will also challenge Weidman at UFC 210 in March.
