The Toronto Maple Leafs will be wearing some green jerseys during St. Patrick’s Day.

No NHL team is known for their jersey more than the Toronto Maple Leafs. The famous leaf logo has been a hockey tradition and it’s arguably the most beautiful jersey in the NHL.

In recent years, they’ve made subtle changes. Now, the Leafs will be wearing green jerseys. Don’t be alarmed, it will only be for one day. On St. Patrick’s Day, fans will see an alternate world where Toronto has green jerseys instead of blue ones.

Believe it or not, this was the jersey worn by the Leafs from 1919-27. This is a nice throwback and not a huge surprise, given Toronto’s centennial celebration as a franchise. It will certainly be a very different look, but it’s a nice one that should remind fans of the 1920’s.

The Maple Leafs are off to a very good start this year. They haven’t been too good recently, but this year, they’re contending for a playoff spot. Several seasons of pain and suffering have proven to be worthwhile, as their young players are really stepping up.

Auston Matthews, the number one pick of the 2016 NHL Draft, is the crown jewel of their rebuild. Everything they did over the past three years built up to getting him. Yes, Toronto originally tried to get Connor McDavid, but Matthews is a pretty darn nice consolation prize. Mitch Marner, drafted in 2015, and William Nylander, drafted in 2014, have both been huge parts of the rebuild as well.

With an impressive combination of rookies and veterans, Toronto is finally relevant again. They have an extremely bright future. It doesn’t matter what jerseys they wear, they will look darn good while doing so.
