When will DeMarcus Cousins play his first game against the Sacramento Kings?

The DeMarcus Cousins era is over for the Sacramento Kings. For years, they tried to build a contender around their controversial superstar center. It’s a marriage that never worked out, even though both sides desperately wanted it to. Cousins got traded from the Kings to the New Orleans Pelicans, ending quite possibly the most toxic relationship in the NBA.

Despite the ugly ending, Sacramento loved their star and their star loved the city back. Cousins wanted to stay with the Kings and it’s sad to see he couldn’t stay with them long-term. But at least now Sacramento gets a clean slate for their new arena.

Cousins will play his first career game against the Kings on March 31, 2017. This will be a home game and will be the last time the Pelicans play Sacramento this season. Fans will have to wait until next season to see Cousins make his return to his old stomping grounds. It should be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets.

Considering Cousins was such a good player for the Kings and popular among fans, expect a very good reception. Hopefully the team makes a highlight video of him or there could be carnage.

The Kings drafted Cousins with the fifth overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft. With Sacramento, the star center 21.1 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per game. Cousins is a three-time NBA All-Star.

The Pelicans are banking on him meshing with fellow Kentucky Wildcat alum Anthony Davis. They should form one of the most potent big men duos in recent memory. Of course, Cousins comes with some risk. But the reward could be monumental, so it’s worth it for the Pelicans.
