Cam Newton will undergo surgery on a partially torn rotator cuff on March 30, but is expected to be back in time for the start of NFL training camp.

During their Week 14 matchup against the the-San Diego Chargers, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton suffered an injury to his shoulder. On March 30, the star will undergo surgery to repair a partially torn rotator cuff, though he is expected back for training camp. Newton, who won the NFL Most Valuable Player Award after a stellar 2015 campaign, will miss all of the team’s offseason workouts.

Manti Te’o was a second round draft choice of those same Chargers back in 2013, and has spent his entire NFL career with the team. That came to an end on Tuesday, as he signed a new two-year deal with the New Orleans Saints. Te’o has battled injuries during his time with the Chargers, including last season, when he was put on injured reserve after tearing his Achilles.

Kiko Alonso agreed to a four-year extension with the Miami Dolphins, as the 26-year old will continue to be a cog in the Dolphins defense. The team signed linebacker Lawrence Timmons this offseason, so the expected move is for Alonso to move to the outside. Alonso was a main reason why the Dolphins were a playoff team in 2016, and his signing shows this team wants to be relevant for the foreseeable future.

Marshawn Lynch is still in retirement, and you have to think it will stay that way as each day passes. Lynch had said that he misses football, and would only come out of retirement to play for his hometown Oakland Raiders. The Seattle Seahawks still own his rights, so they would need to either release him, or swing a trade with the Raiders if he does decide to come out of retirement. Lynch is expected to meet with his agent this week.

Lastly, some NFL Draft news, as Mitchell Trubisky is expected to workout for a handful of NFL teams during the coming weeks. Trubisky, widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in this draft class, is expected to hold workouts with the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and San Francisco 49ers. All three of those teams draft within the first six picks in next April’s draft, and many believe he should be the first signal-caller off the board in round one.
