During an on-air segment for the NFL Network, former NFL wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. completely torches Cleveland Browns quarterback Brock Osweiler.

Steve Smith Sr. had an outstanding NFL career as the ultra-physical, out-spoken wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers and later the Baltimore Ravens. Smith retired from the NFL after the 2016 season. He is beginning an NFL career as an analyst for the NFL Network.

In the hours leading up to day two of the 2017 NFL Draft in Philadelphia, the NFL panel discussed how the rest of the quarterback draft class would shake out. Mitchell Trubisky, Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson all went in the top-12.

Analyst Charley Casserly believes that none of the remaining quarterbacks “are better than Brock Osweiler.” Since Smith was still in the league as of last season, he offered a different opinion than the former NFL general manager with the Washington Redskins and Houston Texans. Smith argued that “anybody is better than Brock Osweiler.”

Casserly would retort that Osweiler has a winning record as a starter, but Smith completely torched the notion that Osweiler was any bit good at quarterback. He said, “That’s why Houston got rid of him….they gave him to the Goodwill and Goodwill’s trying to get rid of him.”

Houston did trade Osweiler to the Cleveland Browns at the start of 2017 NFL free agency. The Texans shockingly paid Osweiler $18 million a year on a four-year deal in 2016 NFL free agency without ever meeting with the guy.

Cleveland had the financial flexibility to absorb Osweiler’s burdensome contract. However, don’t be shocked if the Browns try to trade him out of town before the start of the season. Cleveland head coach Hue Jackson needs to improve from 1-15 in his second year with the Browns.

One could argue that the Browns are better off rolling with Cody Kessler for another year than letting Osweiler do what he does under center. Either way, Smith is going to be a superstar on television. All killer, no filler from that guy.
