Heralded Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin has been offered the president of basketball operations position by the Orlando Magic.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have curated one of the deepest rosters in the NBA. Names of the likes of Lebron James, Kevin Love, Channing Frye and Deron Williams have been brought in to to help the Cavaliers contend for NBA titles. Whom has been responsible for that? The Cavaliers general manager David Griffin.

Hired into the position in 2014, he helped orchestrate the formation of the Cavaliers “Big Three.” James and Love joined Kyrie Irving that summer of 2014, helping the Cavaliers take the Eastern Conference stronghold away from the previously Lebron-led Miami Heat.

It appears the Orlando Magic have watched his moves closely, in which the organization is currently offering Griffin a president of basketball operations role. The role would grant Griffin more power, which the Magic would need someone such as him to fill that void.

"The Magic can engage Griffin in contract talks at the end of the Cavs’ season, sources said.Griffin’s contract with Cleveland is up after the season, and he and the team have not held meaningful discussions on an extension. However, he still remain with the Cavs on a new deal, sources said. While general manager David Griffin and the Cavs have not held meaningful discussions on an extension, he could remain with the team on a new deal, sources told ESPN."

Griffin has shown he has the aptitude to make change. Besides bringing in James and Love, he made the controversial move to fire former Cavaliers head coach David Blatt. His promotion of Tyronn Lue to head coach lifted the Cavaliers to be NBA champions.
