Barcelona helped their title aspirations with a huge win over Real Madrid in the last El Clasico. Madrid do have a game in hand, however, so Barcelona must root for them to falter down the stretch to have any hope at winning the league. Villarreal will provide a tough test for manager Luis Enrique and company, as they currently sit fifth in the table. The last time these two clubs faced off against each other in January, Barcelona needed a 90th-minute free-kick goal from Messi to tie the match at 1-1.
Villarreal could finish anywhere from third to seventh in the table come the end of the season. Currently in fifth place, they need to keep pace with Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao to finish in a Champions League spot. Their next matches after Barcelona are against Deportivo and Valencia, who sit 16th and 13th in La Liga, respectively. Villarreal are a defensively stout club, surrendering the second fewest goals in the league, only below Atletico Madrid. They will likely need at least a goal to keep pace with Barcelona, as they’ve scored 104 total goals in the league this season.
