The Golden State Warriors are halfway to a possible sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers, but that hasn’t affected ticket prices for Games 3 and 4 of the NBA Finals.

A potential four-game sweep can have interesting effects on NBA Finals ticket prices. While fans won’t know whether there’s real potential for that to happen this year until after Wednesday’s Game 3, so far that possibility hasn’t affected ticket prices too much.

According to VividSeats.com, the average price of a ticket to Game 3 in Cleveland is $911, which is virtually identical to the average cost of a ticket to that contest before the series began. When the tickets first went on sale, the average cost was $910.

Tickets for a possible sweep-clinching Game 4 on Friday have gone up a bit since Golden State won Games 1 and 2. When the tickets were first put up for sale, the average price was $765. As of the last information released by Vivid Seats, that figure had gone up to $868. Should the Warriors win Wednesday night, it will be interesting to see if the ticket price will plummet as Cleveland faithful could shy away from spending hundreds of dollars to watch their team potentially get swept on its home court.

Should the Cavaliers win on Wednesday or Friday, the current cost of a fifth contest represents a stark increase right now. The average price of a potential Game 5 in Oakland is $1,571. If Cleveland wins the next two games, therefore prolonging the series to at least six tilts, the average price for Game 6 in Cleveland is $889.

Should these two teams treat fans to a Game 7 for the second consecutive year, the current cost corresponds to that feat. The average price for Game 7 is $1,606.

Whether or not this series will see even five, much less six or seven games, heavily depends on the play of both teams over the next two games. What seems certain is that the longer the series lasts, the more the ticket prices will increase.
