E3 2017 — Monster Hunter World officially revealed

A new Monster Hunter game was announced during the PlayStation E3 press conference. Monster Hunter: World looks like the biggest game in the series yet.

At long last, rather than a port or a handheld game, we’re finally getting a new console Monster Hunter game. During the PlayStation E3 press conference, Monster Hunter: World was officially revealed. At first, it was hard to tell whether or not it was, indeed, a Monster Hunter game. But, after watching it delve into the gameplay, it became pretty obvious. The game looks very fun.

In prior games in the series, you would meet in a lobby and create a party. According to the title though, we’re led to believe that it’ll be an open-world game. That would be very interesting. In that case, we believe this will be the ultimate Monster Hunter game. You take out monsters, improve your weapons and armor and cook some meals from time to time. You’ll also encounter other players along the way, which is great.

You can also read the description below to learn a bit more about the game’s world:

Monster Hunter: World introduces a living, breathing ecosystem in which players strive to become the ultimate hunter. Explore a vast new continent and slay terrifying monsters in heart-pounding co-op battles for up to four players.

We can speculate all we want, but it still looks like your typical Monster Hunter game. Just looking at the gameplay, you can tell that all the moves are similar and there will be plenty of huge monsters to take down. We would love to see a PvP mode added as well. It would make for a more competitive environment.

Monster Hunter: World is launching in early 2018 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A PC release will come soon after.
