E3 2017: New Spider-Man trailer blows away PlayStation press conference

One of the biggest surprises of E3 2016 was the revealing of Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man. Now, we got a new trailer and a confirmed release window.

Prior to E3 2017, one of our most anticipated games of the show was Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man. If we’re being honest, we weren’t sure whether or not the game would even make an appearance. At the same time, we knew it had a pretty good chance. We have yet to see any other piece of footage since last year. Now, during the PlayStation E3 press conference, we finally got a new look. It looks like we’ll actually be getting another good Spider-Man game. We all know it has been a while.

It’s very clear the influence that Insomniac is having with this game. You can see shades of both Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive. If the past says anything, we’re also in for a great time when it comes to the story. Marvel is also giving these developers plenty of room to work with. Insomniac, and every other developer, has complete freedom to craft the story they want to tell, whether it’s canon or not.

However, it’s obvious that Insomniac is taking some inspiration from the Spider-Man lore. Check out the trailer below:

The gameplay looks awesome. This, easily, just jumped to the top of our most anticipated games list. The mechanics seem fluid, the  fighting sequences are outstanding, and we love the character of Spider-Man. His wittiness and constant jokes really capture the essence of who he really is.

The game is also set in an open-world setting, which reminds us of Spider-Man 2. Without a doubt, Spider-Man 2 is the best Spider-Man game. Even then, this one just might top it.

A nice twist is also at the end of the trailer, revealing Miles Morales. We can’t wait for this game.

Spider-Man launches in 2018.
